I grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where I knew I wanted to write as soon as I heard the words "the hero's journey" and To Kill a Mockingbird in the same sentence. My short stories appeared in Fiction International, Miracle Monocle, and The William and Mary Review before I wrote my debut novel, Ever This Night.
